Capital STEM Alliance’s Dr. Lorie Thompson, Kat Santana, and Cecily Kiester hosted a breakout session at the Regional Economic Forecast & Innovation Expo earlier this month. Their session focused on “How STEM Education Builds a Strong, Inclusive Economy.”
It’s become clear that STEM will continue to play a major role in education in Washington, and the Capital STEM Alliance is doing its part to prepare for the future. Topics during the breakout included the future demand for STEM talent in Washington, employer engagement and how it benefits them, the importance of K–12 STEM education, what STEM education is, and more.
During the presentation, Dr. Thompson also encouraged businesses to get involved in STEM in schools, citing the recent Try-A-Trade event as a massive success for all involved.
